Make day-to-day Easier with Visual Schedules

Let’s talk, visual schedules! THEY ARE AWESOME! We see so much progress within just one week of implementing these schedules, and they are not just for kids in therapy – all kids can benefit.

While the name itself seems self- explanatory, a visual schedule is a way of communicating to your child the order of upcoming activities. This schedule is just like any other schedule and the idea is to be able to tell your child where he or she should be and when they should be there.

The difference is, your child should be able to actually see it rather than just reading the words. Visual schedules are easy to implement because they are completely customizable to you, your child, and your family’s routines.

Why should you use a visual schedule?

Visual schedules are really good for allowing children to become independent in initiating and following daily schedules and routines.

For example, some children (people) are more visual than others, and the parts of the brain that process visual cues versus auditory cues like verbal instruction, can develop at different rates.

Visual Schedules allow you to show your child expectations and the sequence of the entire day or a single routine.

If you're looking to get your child on to a better routine and your planner for them just isn’t working, a Visual Schedule may be a great option to look into. Creating one is super easy and they can be so beneficial! We use Canva to create Visual Schedules for our Nurtured Pediatrics families, but we would be more than happy to create one for you as well!
